Decomp plates

Heya guys, has anyone ever used decomp plates? When the time comes to throw some forced induction into my vg30de I need to lower the compression and I know that getting a new bottom end is the better way to go, but what are the disadvantages associated with using a decomp plate (thick plate between head and block) to lower compression?
Also, has anyone had any experience with copper head gaskets? any thoughts? pros/cons?

God dude it's tough to say.
This is one thread I can honestly say... I have no fucking clue. I'll do some research with my buddies and get back to you.

i have always wandered that myself but since nobody has ever talked about it i just figured there must be something bad that comes about. but in your head it all makes sense. *lower compression ables u too add forced induction without blowing into pieces*

i'm not sure about vg's but i know when adding boost to honda's engine's, slapping on a thicker head gasket and throwing on boost= a blown motor, if i were you i'd spend the extra cash and re-do the bottom end.. better safe then sorry when dealing with any engine
