I have a 2001 Ford Taurus wagon with Duratec V6 and 39K miles. After a night in the garage car was pulled out and parked in driveway. Upon getting out of vehicle I found approximately 1.5 quarts of transmission fluid on my driveway. Vehicle was towed to dealer as we had problems with transmission leaking fluid at 14K miles (Bushing needed to be replaced). Dealer inspected, tested and test drove car 3 times over 8 miles each time. I drove car as well- no problem was found and fluid levels were wihin norm. Car had not been serviced in any way for over 2K miles. Anyone have any insight on this? Is it possible that the oil change place over filled and took 2K miles ot release? Is there a pressure release valve on the unit? Car was just driven 470 miles today without incident- ughhh

Someone should have at least been able to see the area that the fluid had came from. Up top, around bottom pan, side pan, front seal? Should have been some sign somewhere. Sometimes when the vehicle is hot they won't leak. Its when they sit for a while, because the torque converter fluid drains back into the pan, which puts a lot of pressure on lower gaskets. Then once its started, the converter fills, the fluid level drops below pan gasket and no more leak. Little hard to explain, just some brain storming for ya.

There was some apparent leak up top- but fluid poured out in a short period of time and has not leaked since. Car was cold and in garage- pulled out of garage and turned vehicle off- fluid poured out on drive- garage floor was dry. There has been no leakage since- other then the drip off of the major discharge. Dealer did not see anything and now vehicle is working fine :disappoin

Had same problem, believe that transmission fluid can be pushed out the top of the filler tube if the stick/bushing isn't setted properly.
