95 Taurus Trans Fluid Dump

I returned from vacation saturday and on the last mile of the trip I felt a strange bump in my seat!!! The return trip was 356 miles all interstate, I exited and came to a stop light, the light turned green and as I began to accelerate, the gears shifted very hard to second. I slowed to check my mirrors to see what I ran over and saw nothing, I took off again and it happened again. Luckly I was six blocks from the house. I pulled up then backed into the drive, I saw the trail of fluid. I looked under the car and trany fluid was pooring from the area between the oil pan and the cover plate on the front side of the trans., there are gears behind the plate. The next day I loaded 2.5 quarts into the beast, jacked it up wiped everything clean to pinpoint the leak. Started up and nothing....Drove to the gas station...nothing...drove it to work the last two days....nothing. Everything is clean on the underside of the car, WHAT COULD IT BE? :banghead:

it is possible that a seal came out of place and reseated after the fluid lever decreased, i would mabe suggest adding an automatic transmission conditioner, somtimes what they do is go to the seals and make them expand slightly and reseal the way they were origonally designed to
