i might get rims if i have money left over
and if i can't find a black color, i'm gonna get either white or silver

damn straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!
see guys, here's my whole prelude situation
I've been saving since last summer for this car, by working everyday with freaking 3 jobs!!!!!! So i'm pretty burned out.
So hopefully by the end of this summer, i can make atleast a 10 G down on my 'lude.
Which brings me to this point: do you think its possible to get a base prelude for about $23.500?

sweet phil ...if u dont get the black definitly get the silver one ...there bad arse . Damn 3 jobs ...for a lude WOW i'm impressed sounds like u really want this car bad :D and i think the base 5spd is better than the sh b/c the sh weighs it down more and there fore slowing u down .....also your getting exhuast right ? and with the price situation im pretty damn sure u can talk the dealer down to that ....it all takes time and just demanding what u want and a little wheeling and dealing also try to talk to the sales manager he's the best bet of u getting the price u want .

Damn, 3 jobs, that's determination!! I used to be in your shoes, 3 job shoes that is. If you go to a dealership to buy the car, learn to haggle. Never, ever, ever, ever, pay what they say outright!! Learn to make them bring the price down. Secondly, never let them know what you are willing to spend. It just makes them hungrier. If you play your cards right, you might get a real good deal on a lude. Hope the best for you!!:flash:

Hey what's up guys!!!!!!
Yeah, like i said.......it was a very tiresome summer but once the money rolled in.........i was only able to smile!!! :D
Even though i wanna fix up my 'lude, I wanna keep that mellifluous sound the engine makes when it revs above 5000rpms!!!! Cause damn!!!!!! I love that sound!!!!!
I'm wondering guys: I was reading up on front drive cars like the Integra Type R and the Sentra SeR, and found out that they have differentials like the "helical and viscous" limited slip.
I never knew this before. I always thought that only rear wheel drivers have these.
So i'm wondering, does the prelude have a limited slip?

Nope :( tha lude doesnt have limited slip but i think for around a G you could get one for ur lude. I dunno maybe the Type S version over in japan has one but i doubt it .

I went into my local Honda dealer today and drooled over the 2001 SE. I know exactally how you feel. I need all the money I earn for school, but damn, that car is just so sweet. I have fallen in love all over again. The idea of dishonestly aquiring one has crossed my mind a few times today, but I know it will feel better when I EARN it. Oh, I look forward to the day when I can get one.

It is lacking in the low end torgue, but still, who cares? Just rev it up! The rsx has a new system to solve it, called VTC, or variable timing control, which alters the timing od the intake crankshaft. It's very possible that they will incorporate that into the redesigned 2002 prelude.

you know what.........i was reading about that verboom
and i got a little baffled.
R&T talked about the RSX and went on about the new engine that it has. What confused me was the designated names:
i-VTEC and VTC.
I'm just wondering name i should use.

The engine's name is the i-VTEC, but it has the VTC feature. Calling it the VTC would be like naming your car by the tranny. VTC is just another feature. Got it? Hope that helps.

I've heard nothing about a 2002 prelude. Did they decide to bring it back to the line? I heard that 2001 was the last year for the lude.
matt
06-04-2001, 08:06 PM
Phily, congradulations on your choice for the prelude. I was fixated on the lude for prolly about a year. I dunno what made me switch, but I'm in love with the E36 M3 now. Prelude will be very reliable. You could prolly find a 98 or 99 with 23-30 K milesfor 20 K or under in good condition. That way you could have more money for mods. Just a thought.

Also, if you buy used, you'll miss out on the largest depreciation bracket. New or used, it's a good car.

I heard exactly that:
the prelude will sell till the end year of 2001, and whatever preludes they have left over the following year. :(
I feel very very sad and disappointed. I was expecting that Honda would offer more engine upgrades later on with the already good chassis, but apparently the RSX is supposed to be the prelude (and integra) replacement!!!!

Hi guys long time no see!!!!!!1
i have a confession to make:
Ever since the Acura RSX type S has come out
I've been getting tempted to get that car
the only thing that's keeping me away from that car
is the design of the prelude. I still love the long sleek look
of the prelude.
But the speed on the rsx is just amazing!!!!!!
argh!!!!!!! both has 200hp
but the rsx is so much lighter!!!!!!!!!
HELP ME DECIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To the rest of the world, I believe the RSX is called the Integra. So you really can't say it replaced the Integra. "A rose by any other name is still a rose". Too bad for the Prelude. My first car was a 1988 Prelude Si AWS. That car was bad ass. I bought it back in 1993. It ended up getting in a head on collision with a Ford Ranger. Not my fault. My car was totaled. It was a pretty safe car. The whole front end moved in about two feet. I didn't get hurt at all. Just a little dizzy. :bloated:

The RSX replaced the integra in north america. We just mean in N. America the new design integra a.k.a. RSX replaces the older integra

Just drove the New Civic Si last week. It's a pretty fast car. It felt definitely faster then the Integra GSR. With a 160hp i-vtec motor, and being a light weight, it's fun to drive. The high rally style shifter looks funny, but feels absolutely natural. The distance from your shoulder to the shifter is about the same from the steering wheel so it doesn't require you to reach forward or pull back to get your hand to the shifter. I jumped in and drove it with no problems. The interior is very nice. Suede w/cloth seats in the front and some fake suede with cloth in the back. The fake suede is visually convincing. In person, the car looks really narrow and tall. Kind of like a scaled down mini van. Our company has already lowered the car about 1 1/2 inch. It was a big visual improvement. You'll see it at the SEMA show in Vegas. It's the white one with a bunch of g's on the side. All of the graphics are in shades of gray. You'll also see a STILLEN decal from each side of the vehicle. I can't wait till we throw this sucker in the dyno.

I test drove the RSX type-s and it didn't really feel all that fast. Although i did chirp third gear...The RSX is gonna be one of those cars that u see everywhere, especially since they offer a less expensive version. I'm already seeing tons of them here in FL. Thats the reason I got my prelude b/c it isn't something i will see everywhere, and now that they stopped making them i get alot of looks from people. I love my prelude.

I love the prelude, too. I was able to ride in Phily's and, man, is it nice. So smooth and quick. Absolutely lovely. Phily's having the time of his life in his new car. Good Lord do I envy him! lol
But I can't wait for the RSX Type R to hit our shores. It's gonna be badass, methinks.

That's right, I drove the New 2002 Civic Si Hatchback. It's a pre-production model. Some of the interior was unfinished (the dash). The exterior is completely finished. I had to drive around in it with all of the emblems taped up so know one would know what I was driving. The steering, and clutch feel is very light like the 2001 Coupe EX, making the car easy for anyone to drive.

Companies are always giving out pre-production cars for testers, reviewers and tuners. I work for a tuning company, Stillen. Also known as Steve Millen Sportparts, Inc.
We went to Honda of North America to pick one up. They are located in Torrance, CA. We are located in Costa Mesa, CA. They're only 35 miles away. We've gotten other pre-production cars like the 2003 Altima 3.5SE, 2000 Maxima (back then when no one new what it looked liked, it was totally top secret). Most likely we'll get the 2003 350Z before anyone else. Steve Millen used to race for Nissan so I guess we get the hook ups on Nissan cars. I think the next thing we're getting is the 200SX Spec R.

I do a bunch of things here. I guess I'm fit into the administrative employee category. I do a lot of the IT/IS here. I work with several different departments marketing, R&D, sales, accounting, and warehouse. I'm like the "jack of all trades" here at Stillen. I know sales, aftermarkent parts, cars, R&D, wrenching, computers, and accounting. On occasion I get to drive the vehicles when they need someone to pickup a new project vehicle. It is the marketing department's responsibility and sometime they ask me to help them out. I update some of the images and text to our gawdawful web site. We're trying to find a new web design company. The one that we're dealing with is incompetent.
