Anybody know where I can get a good deal on a new tailgate chrome emblem/sticker for my 95 Z-71? It is the big CHEVROLET on the tailgate. Mine is all oxidized and I want a new one. The dealer here wants $140 which I think is way, way too much. How about removing and replacing it. It seems to be stuck on there really good. anybody have any tips or tricks?

I have one that is in great shape, still stuck on the tailgate. I would like to just get rid of it but like you say, it is really stuck on there. I am afraid it would rip the paint all the way to the metal trying to get it off.

Take a gutair string and work it back and forth between the tailgate and the sticker and it will cut it off. It takes soem time though.

I have done much body work and you can just take it off. It will not lift the paint unless your paint under it is in bad condition. Get it started by lifting it a screwdriver being careful not to scratch the paint. Once it is started just simply grab it with a pair of pliars and slowly pull it off. Yes it is on their pretty good but it will come off. Once it is off there will be some double stick tape still stuck to your paint. You can take this off with some ( i have used paint thinners or paint reducer) goo gone.
ANother way to do it (profesionally) is before removing the emblem use a heat gun to heat it up slowly moving the heat gun back and forth. It heats up the emblem and the double stick tape/glue and it will easly come off. Be careful not to burn your fingers when you remove the emblem because it will be hot. Once the emblem is off if there is anymore tape stuck to your paint heat it up also and it will peel off. use the go gone to remove the rest.
If you do not have a heat gun try to use a blowdryer it will work also but take longer.
Now you have three other ways of removing all of which work and I have used them all in the past.
