Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a search and came up with nothing...
I was thinking about rippin out my carb'ed 305, and swaping. Which would be a better choice, A LS1 or LT1?
As far as I know about the two motors is that LT parts are cheaper because it's been around longer. But what would be a better motor with little too no mods?

The LT-1 was putting out about 275hp and about 325ft/lbs tq. Those are respectable numbers.
The LS1 came with a few different hp values.
310-hp, 5.7-liter V-8
325-hp, 5.7-liter V-8
335-hp, 5.7-liter V-8
I'm not sure which ones are which? 310=Formula 325=T/A 335=WS6?
The LS1 has more stock hp. However, that is just as they are. For a few hundred you can land an LT-4 package for your LT-1 (check ebay). So keep that in mind that as you have already said, the LT-1 does have a cheaper aftermarket following.
Eitherway let us know what you decide.
