1996 Neon CV Joint/Stalling prob

(My wife was driving so I don’t know first hand) Our 1996 Neon began shuttering and clunking in a right hand turn. After the turn the noise and shutter went away. The next turn (Left) it did the same thing. When pulling into the driveway it did the same thing then the engine stalled. The engine will start but as soon as it is shifted into drive the engine dies.

When I tried to pull it into the garage, I had to keep one foot on the brake (light pressure) but had to over rev the engines to get it in.

The noise and shutter indicates to me a CV Joint, but what about the stalling?
