i have been hounding my Mitsubishi dealer.. 2 MR's are coming in this week.. and i live in Florida.. about as far away from Japan as you an get... put a grand down on a silver MR
Its here!!!!!! well not yet .. but this week.. i'm stoked.. Now those NSX's and s2000 and all the other great handlers are gonna have a handfull..
i expect its 0-60 and 1/4 to be much better..and its midrange ( with that extra gear to be most annoying to Srt owners.. lest i forget a bump in hp and torque.. 300 Lbs lighter bigger turbo for better respone
Damn just when i mastered the V* as far as modding
i think this car will smack a Lotus Elise in ever way.

Man its not worth it. I'd just get the regular one. The only thing thats a big deal about them is the tranny that ACD in it. Big whoa! ;)

Yup, if they would've made it 300+ HP it'd be something worthwhile, and with all that extra BS I see NO WAY it's going to be lighter.

Trust me, its gonna be lighter. The roof is lighter, and some other things, like the wheels are gonna be lighter. I would get it in a second!

And like we can't make the reg. evo8 lighter?? Who cares about the weight. Weight is not an issue. The car has power.

Weight is very important. EXTREMLY important, because it affects everything. Performance, cornering, braking... The MR is gonna be nice, and I can wait when it comes out here, if it does come out here.

Reg.Evo8 already handles great. Lighter wheels? Anyone can go out and buy a set of lighter wheels. To make the reg.evo8 lighter all we have to do is replace the hood with cf hood, cf trunk. That might not take off "300" lbs but still just to give you an idea what we can do to the reg.evo8. You go ahead and get one. We're not sayin its a bad car but we're sayin its not worth the extra 5g's.

Yea, I understand what you are saying. But its not just the hood and trunk, its the roof, and the AWD and traction. Plus its gonna have a 6 speed, which is what I've always wanted in an Evo.

There is no way what they did shaved 300 pounds off that car. Rims, 25 lbs, alum. roof, 12 lbs. 300 pounds would require a near stripping of the car, and they didn't do that.
6 sp? Big deal, what's so great about a 6 sp? The RS is probably the best deal in an EVO.

Don't forget that the ACD will be a very big deal for the US, since we never had it in the first place. On top of that, the software has been upgraded, meaning that it is the best version of ACD to date.
The same applies to the Super AYC, which the MR will also be equipped with. That might not seem like a big deal, but when racers on Best Motoring talk about how much faster AYC makes them and how they wouldn't have their race Evos any other way, then you know it's a worthwhile addition.
The MR also has improved aerodynamics, and an aluminum roof. Sure you can get a carbon fiber one made, but how much will that cost? The MR will be a great step up in the US Evo line, and will probably have an edge over the STi for sure.

I know about all that. Like i said , i would just get an aftermarket one when i get my reg.evo.

I really want those Best Motoring videos. I would love seeing an Evo kick the overated Skyline's ass. But I do think its worth getting the MR, because its the best version we are going to get. When it does come out, I am buying it. Oh, and anyone knoe how to get the aviator to show up?

Where ever they sell it! Damn dude theres cars that come with STOCK LSD but still ppl want more grip. So they get an aftermarket one. I'm pretty sure they have aftermarket "SAYC". The only way to get i will get an MR is if they give it to me for 30g's.

Just to save you the trouble of looking, don't. No one sells anything like an aftermarket Super Active Yaw Control system. You can't get active diffs either, though perhaps that will come in the future.

The mechanical clutch, helical and viscous LSDs available on the aftermarket are a completely different animal from the electromagnetically controlled active differentials that Mitsubishi uses. Not even all of the teams in the WRC have active diffs yet. I'd venture to say that none of them have any sort of yaw control. If you want ACD or AYC in a street car, you'll have to stick with Mitsubishi for now.

Ok then swap out the 5speed and get a jdm tranny that has one already. Still save you some money. Either way i still dont think its a big deal. Not for an extra 5 grand. I know LSD completey different from ACD and AYC. I just threw that in there as an example.

The way the Evos are selling in some places, I wouldn't be too surprised.

The ACD and AYC systems aren't part of the transmission. They're part of the awd drivetrain, which probably means you'll have to buy the entire awd drivetrain from an MR, then swap it and the associated electronics(computer controlled, remember?) into your regular Evo. That will almost certainly not save you money.

Ok people. I am a new member of this forum and I got some information for the MR and want to share with you guys and also, want to backup the person who started this thread since those information are real and concrete. Please don't ask who I am and where I got the information from (either take it or forget about it, no blaming.)
First, MR is coming to the States and it is due in the mid-Sept (Sept 11 or 12th)
Second, the price range will be around $33000 to $35000 (without markup)
Third, MRs will equipped with AYC, 6-speed tranny and all the other extra stuff (not neccessary to make it heavier) that the JDM MRs have.
Fourth, estimated 0-60 MPH time will be 4.4 sec.
- Lighter (approximately 200lbs less than the STi) because of the top is made from different material than the normal Evo or Evo RS plus all the other stuff that make the car overall ligther. Some people mentioned it is not possible to shave this much off, however, Mitsubishi did it by replace lighter parts.
- Deposits are accepting thru any dealers in the US. However, I found that some stupid dealers don't accept deposits because they either want to rip people off by selling it when it releases by putting markups or they simply don't know what MR is.
Again, if you have questions, please ask and I will be happy to answer. If you are those people who want to see prove about those I talked about, I am sorry but I got nothing to show or if you want, I can put down a note and when I got my MR, I can show it to you those are real facts. I am not to be mean, but I see that some people in this forum are just rude and I want to make it clear that I just want to give out information that I know at this time.
Thanks

the 300lb weight difference between the regular evo and the mr doesnt sound right when you do the math. look at the curb weight of both cars, 3250 for the regular evo, 3085 for the mr from that r&t speed magazine, 3250 minus 3085 is 165. the weight of the lancer evo rs from car and driver magazine weighed in at 3026.

Keep in mind that the US Evo is heavier than the Evos in other markets. The MR tested in Speed is a lighter version of the foreign Evo.
To get a rough idea of how much our MR will weigh, take the weight savings between the foreign MR and foreign Evo GSR. Then subtract that number from the weight of our standard Evo. Most of the weight saving measures will be applied to our 'GSR' and RS Evos as well.

i read that speed magazine again, they said they took off nearly 300lbs, but never said there was a 300 lb difference. im thinking that those extra parts, like ayc and acd just weighed it down a bit more from its original lighter weight, since the rs, and the regular evo here doesnt have those things.
