Electric Fuel Pump

I have a 97 Cadillc Deville. If I'm not mistaken, the fuel pump is located in the tank. Is this something that I can repair myself because I'm very good with my hands or do I need to take it in to a repair shop. I've priced the pump at $400/dealer and $249.99/NAPA Auto Parts.

i need to do mine also for a 91 deville, but i priced it at autozone and its 80 bucks, hope you find an answer we both can use, btw how did you find out this was a problem?

I thought it was a warning sign that my brakes were low. But a guy sent me a thread saying the fuel pump makes a buzzing sound in the rear when it's going bad.

well mine likes to stay at a constant speed after i take my foot off the gas, like i do 30 and try to slow down but it still stays at that speed til i hit the brakes, its like a crusie control even when you hit the brakes, and it hesitates when i floor it.

That sounds like a gummed throttle linkage or a too-high idle setting, not a fuel-pump problem.

I replaced mine on a 96 deville, the key is too make sure you dont have a lot of gas in the tank, because that makes it harder to take the tank off, but its pretty simple to replce
