1981 924T wheels

hi all, anyone have any idea what wheels will fit on my 1981 924T, i really want to upgrade from my stock 6x16 spiderweb wheels, to something that looks better. any ideas guys, no one seems to have anything that will fit other than the ugly stock wheels??

There are many choices out there! Being an '81, I assume you have the 5 bolt wheels and 4 wheel disc brakes, which gives you a 5x130mm bolt pattern. You can fit any Porsche wheel that has the late high offset, 40-60mm or so. Anything over 7" front and 8" rear and you will have to flare your fenders.

OTOH, if you have the 4 bolt wheels and rear drum brakes, this gives you a 4x108mm bolt pattern, with the same offset requirements as the 5 bolt setup, and the only wheels you can get will be those for the Ford Focus.

As I've come to know, the 924T used the same suspension components as the early 944s. So they use the early 23mm offset rims. You can use later (52mm) rims with approprate (SP) spacers.

You can't use early offset wheels on a 924. The 924 shares the same suspension and track as the 944, the difference is in the offset and the fender flares. If you try to use 944 wheels on a 924, they will stick out way too far. That being said, I have a 16x8 wheel on my car with about a 40mm offset, and I have to use a very short tire in order to clear my front fender wells.

I have seen one 924 without flared fenders using 15x8 944 wheels, it looked quite good but the tires rubbed going aroudn every corner, and eventually burst.

I tried a late set of phones on my 44 and had troubles with scraping the rims on the control arms. Hence why i said the 23mm offset. The 52mm ones stuck inboard too far and need spacers.
