Alarm System Malfunction!

Alright..first off..I just baught my 99 Jetta and I dont know a whole lot about cars. My remote for the car isnt working so I cannot turn my alarm off with that. I have to use the key. But when I put the key in and turn it, my alarm is still enabled so I cannot start the car or it will go off. Some days it will work fine..then others it wont and I cant use the car for about 2 days, untill it starts working again. I dont know what to do. Is there some way to just disable the whole system all together untill I can get a new one...PLEASE HELP ME!

Sorry but there is not much to do. Jettas really suck and I am sorry that you bought one. I couldn't wait to unload mine after having it only a few months even though I but it brand new. I've worked on VW's and the electrical system on those really suck.
