My 1990 Olds 98 sputters when going over 40 mph. It has been diagnosed as the transmission, specifically the overdrive mechanism.
I was quoted $1700 for a rebuild. I can buy a new transmission from Jasper for $1900 plus installation.
Would probably go for a rebuild if it was $700 cheaper. Does anyone have any ideas how to get it running for less money?
