1987 Maxima VIN # ??

Where do I find the VIN on this thing? Would the vin be the same as the chassis # ? I looked where most vin #'s are, in bottom corner on the drivers side windshield. Not there. Can someone help me out here.

under the hood, somewhere on the engine block, somewhere on the frame. the vin is there somewhere. (also on title)
