tran/interior lights 1995 GP SE

Hey Guys....two questions and i could realy use the help as i know little about cars. 1) my interior lights will not go out...all doors closed....i just pulled the fuse (my idea of a quick fix) the 2nd question which i the most serious...My trannsmision will not switch gears unless you step on the gas off the line.....and then what happeneds is..say in traffic as you aplie the breaks and slow down the tran wil not shift into a lower gear....so if you have to slow to say 5km and hour....when you put your foot back on the gas you are in fourth gear ( i think fourth)...any ideas on cheap checks first before i get in to haveinng a rebuilt??..Thanks for the help

How long has it been since you took it in for a tranny checkup?
And how hard do you usually push your GP?

Truth it has been along time...aside from checking fluide that's really all i do. the transmision had a leak at 30,000 k it know has 150k on it. but it hasn't really been "serviced"

how hard to i push it....not really that hard i comute on the highway with it.
