I am once again in need of some help ya'll!
I've got a 94 Honda Accord and the stereo is messed up beyond repair. The antenna has been broken off (the motor is still good though) which means I have a hard time picking up radio stations. The cassette deck will accept and eject tapes but will only play for about 3-4 seconds and reverse direction. The display doesn't light up so I have no idea what station I'm on unless I listen for a while. My husband, being the wonderful angel he is, has promised me a new stereo with a CD player and antenna. My question is this: How on earth do I take out the original stereo? Do I have to take apart the entire dash or is there some little secret screw that I don't see?
Please make this as easy as possible! I have no clue as to what I am doing with this. My husband, on the other hand, knows how to put the new one in but not take the old one out.
Please help!!

just get a pro to install it, they only charged me like 30 bucks, so it saved you all the headaches.

if you want to DIY you need to take off the part of the dash that the stereos is behind then unscrew the stereo from it, pull out the wires, and slide it out

save yourself the 30 bucks, that way your husband can take you out to dinner after he installs it. i just bought a 97 accord and am going to put my Alpine unit in it today once i get home from work. i've put about 15 stereos is cars ranging from a chevy suburban to a dodge pickup to a VW jetta. usually you just look where you can take the part by the shift off because that will be connected to an area around the radio. either pick up a hianes manual (tells you how to do everything to your car because pro. mechanics tear down and rebuild one) or drop by the library and see if they have anything on it. if not try this site.

hopefully you haven't taken it to be installed yet, save your money, they charge outta da butt to put a player in. if you have any questions throw me an email, [email protected]

just to follow up on my post, just follow the directions to take off the dash part and put it back on. the hardest part (but it's not even hard) is taking off the dash. he should also get a wire harness adapter. this allows you to wire the plug from the aftermarket cd player to the new plug then simply plug it into the plug coming out of the car, no cutting wire or anything. also when you go to sell your car you can put the factory radio in without modifying the wires or anything.

thanks for the website. I printed out the pages. I'll remember the harness too. What happens if the stereo I get doesn't fit properly?

I'm assuming that the factory radio in your accord is either double-din size or that it is a single din with a little pocket thing under it. what kind of radio did you get? I'm sure that if it is any kind of aftermarket radio it will probably fit, unless it specified something like "only for GM/Chrysler vehicles" or "only for Ford vehicles". Usually you can also pick up a bracket for the radio that will hold it in there. If you want, i can send you pictures of everything i have for my radio. let me know. hope this sort of helps
