Geek,
What you need to do is to get a box cutter razor and bend it in to a U shape then take the bottom of the U and scrape off the paint on the letters...

Nice and clean looking...but it just isn't my thing. If you like it though, thats all that matters.

You should paint your battery next. Clean engine bay though really, I dont know about painted valve covers though, especially red. Not my thing.

Looks good man, even with the letters and emblem painted, but if you want the letters and stuff not to be painted it wont take long just to get a razor blade and scrape them

Looks awsome, I did the same thing to mine..But CAUTION:!!! I hope you taped off the threads on the oil cap, I did not do that when I painted mine and paint chips FELL IN THE MOTOR. I found red paint chips stuck to my oil strainer gauze! Not good if they somehow get to the engine bearings.

I had headers, freeflow cat and a cat back with a CAI on my DPFI, it sounded great but did not move the way it does now it the MPFI.. :)

In fact I read that it does not really help that much (standard bolt ons) becuase of the way DPFI was designed..

MAX...

the valve cover looks pretty good for paint... that is until you spill something on it and stain it up, or it chips off over time, etc. A friend of mine painted his DOHC ZC valve cover blue, and then one day he was at the car wash and decided to use the foaming brush on his engine, well whatever they use in the soap turned his pretty valve cover brown lol.

powdercoat is the only way to go. its very durable and will resist almost any chemical that happens to come in contact with it.
