My sister's 94 Continental's engine shuts off when she tries to use the a/c. Also her oil pressure gauge drop's then goes bacl up to normal. She has a digital display dash. Both these problems started with in the past couple of days. This leads me to think they are related. Has anyone got any ideas?

I've got a 94' conti doing the same thing. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am assuming it's a computer issue.

Any help?

A few things happen when you switch the ac on. If you have an electric fan it is usually energized. The idle via the idle air control valve is increased to deal with the additional load on the engine. Most of this is computer controlled but I would think more along the lines of a bad input to the pcm. Either it is not reading the ac on or the IAC valve is not responding or or or.

Try the guys at Lincolnsonline (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/). They are familiar with a lot more years than I. Good luck and let us know.

This just happened to mine. When I used the AC the engine would eventually shut off. It was because the engine was overheating due to my electric cooling fans not working. The computer shuts down the engine when it gets too hot. An overheating engine could also cause your drop in oil pressure.
