ok, now many of us who own a car, or dream of owning a car have come to realize that you can't always get that Über car they always wanted; regardless if it is a Corvette, or a Koenigsegg. There is always something that gets in the way, like school, family, MONEY (being the biggest factor) you don't have.
I have had many loves that I still wish got and yes, I wish I had them over my 240. Now, I'm not saying that I had to settle for my 240. I just simply found it to be within my price range and within my range of interest. It had the 3 basic things I was looking for: 1. Cool design and a coupe. 2. It is RWD. 3. It is rare enough (in my area for my year and even color). My first love and this may have been because my father had one was a Camaro. But he had a '73, and I wanted a '68-'69 SS. Then, it was a Chevelle SS, then a Buick GNX, then an RX-7.
Now, I'm at where I am at and I am satisfied. I think the 240 has what I need and the abilities that I want. But the whole point of writing this is to see what everyone else's first love was and if there are any people out there who actually had the 240 as their first love and have it now, or something else....mind you I'm poor to the point where I need to save a lot before I can do anything.

At first I was in love with those huge ass redneck trucks(still am just cant afford it :( ) And then it was a 2nd gen supra. Now ive loved 240's for a long while. But instead i get stuck with a 97' Oldsmobile Silhouette (even though its pretty fast for a van). I still love it though.

1st was TT porsche (bad boys), when it sank in that I wasn't rich, I looked for dream cars in my budget. I liked the eclipse 97-up, and Stang Cobra, ended up settling for a 90' taurus SHO, as I took interest in performance, started realizing about platforms of cars, I wanted a Supra, but the price was too high, so I bought a 95' T-ram I wanted a GT mustang but they were 5speed, after really doing some research I learnt the price of performance parts, weight, handling etc, and I came to the conclusion, there was no car out there in my price range that had everything I wanted, it was either the engine, the looks, the weight, etc, leading me to my conclusion, get parts from diff cars and build the of my dream. I liked the 240, so I bought one at a salvage that had been in a very light wreck, costed me $600 without the engine and tranny, but didn't want them any way.
Sold my T-ram, stripped my SHO, now I have no transport, I am slowly trying to finish my project but it is pissing me off that it is taking too long, but, it is my fault for not having enough cash.

well, its a dream and you're doing it. I kind of get a little angry at the ones who say 'don't make your car something its not'...in some ways they are right, but sometimes they are dead wrong. You want to make your car the way you want it. However, the bad part is, is that when you do that, a lot of money and mods have to be done in order to fulfill that dream. But this contradicts my hatred for the ones who don't know what they are doing and just happen to have the money to do whatever, plus the ones who just totally make their car ugly as hell. There is a right way and a wrong way. Let me know if the SHO40 (or whatever you would call it) is done.
Which reminds me...I need to stuff an sr20 into my car...:)

well my favorite car was always a 97 and up eclipse, and well i got one and now it's my girlfriend over my car cuz i love her too much so i have to sacrafice my car for my feelings and sell it, i don't want to cuz it is my one affordable dream car of mine, but instead i will buy a diamond ring for my girlfriend and buy my next most favorite car, the 96 240 sx with the s14 headlights, i like these cars simply cuz they are fast and they are rear wheel drive and they are as close to a skyline i will ever get.... hehehe i would love to have a 99 skyline gtr but i doubt that i will ever get one in my life so i will make do with the 240....

First dream car was a shelby cobra. I love the fact it's a motorcycle with for wheels. Light as hell and nice power, amazing handling. My current dream car is a salene S7 loved it since it was in the design stage. it is featured in Bruce Almighty fun Jim Carey. Anyways my current vehicle(s) are a pair of Adidas size 10 1/2. resently sold my miata for college money but now going to spend it on a 240. And my dream car I will own some day is a pontiac GTO vintage '66 drowl with a nice 400+ c.i. engine.

I used to love Dodge Viper, but I outgrew that fantasy, then I moved on to the Skyline, which is my dream now, any year GT-R looks damn sexy and is a beast of a car. And I also would love to have a 2001 BMW 750iL...very pimpin'. If I had money and time and tools I would love to restore a Chevelle SS, but the early ones, when they weren't to big.

so, what's the horsepower rating on those Adidas? haha. :)
I'd have trouble going without my own means of transport. In fact, I am doing that right now. I haven't been able to drive my 240 since the first week of April '04 because I got into an accident 300 miles away from my house...and guess what...i drove it back...no headlights (anymore) and a bent up hood held down with a bungie and duct tape (man's universal tool). And its been sitting in my garage since because I'm stuck in a monastery in Italy studying, plus I've only seen 2 ferrari's so far. But what a great place to be.

The top cars on my list of over 50 cars are
#1:- 69' Shelby GT500 and R34 (tie), #2:- 04' porche GT2 TT,
#3:- 69' Yenko Camaro or the 67-69 Z28, #4:- 93-96' Supra TT, 6 sp.
#5:- 95-98' Nissan 240.
I love cars, but funny how I'm not into exotics so much, I like them, but I like doing the work, it plays a very important role to me, that is why I took mechanics. You could modify a Lamborgini or Saleen S7, but you tell me what engine swaps are on the menu????? The engines suspension and setup they have are top notch. A complete engine rebuild could net you and extra 150hp for maybe $20K, its worthless, unless you swap an F1 motor into them. A complete rebuild of a small block could get you an extra 100-400hp depending on how you do it for 2-10K.
That is why I kinda liked lower priced cars, e.g 240sx, I'm doing a SHO swap, when I finish, I would like to experiment with a BMW V12 in a S14, I know this is kind of a dumb idea, but I always wanted a V12. It would be kinda stupid to remove a ferrari V12 and swap a BMW V12, or remove a ferrari modenas 3.6L V8 to put a V12 when the V8 is capable of 9000rpm. Am I making any sense to anyone or is this just jiberish to you all???????????????? I don't know, maybe I got some screws out of place. Don't get me wrong, if I had the cash I would buy me a 360Modena and the Porche GT V10, I like them too.

my dream car was a 240 lolololololololol. only thing better is a skyline. If its not a nissan im not wasting the money on it. o wait the first time i saw a lotus esprit at the dealer ship i fell in love with it....turbo charged v8(if i remember right) with 550 hp, price tag was 88g's so i was like na skyline still better for the money.

My dream car is a dark blue R32 Skyline GTR v-spec built up to about 450 hp. I really like the squareness of it. My obtainable dream car though is a dark blue 300zx TT. 300 hp and a new paint job on my 240 would be pretty nice also.

aside from all the first loves i wanted. I whored my heart and my mind to different models: like the Lancia Delta Integrale EVOII, the celica gt4, a 1986 Chevy Sprint (souly on the purpose of good gas mileage and modding a 3 cylinder turbo) haha. And the craziest one was a 1990 Lotus Carlton: 377 bhp twin turbo 3.6 v6, 4 door sedan with a top spd of 175 mph with a 6spd shifter from a ZR1 Vette. There is nothing like it, not even a vr4 galant can touch it.
Plus, after reading SHO's v12 stuff, I wondered how a Ferrari V12 would fair in a Corvette, considering that the designs of the Vette resemble the Ferrari. I know a v8 would be sweet in a 240 because I have seen an LT1 in an old 240z before.

my original was a Viper GTS back when i was younger, but now my dream car is definitely a McLaren F1 LM. that thing costs $1.5mil + for a reason. 0-100 in 5 seconds, i cant even get out my front door in 5 seconds and i'm not even fat. but taking my head out of the clouds now, a more realistic dream car is a track model 350z wita Veilside kit, yum!! i loved Option's 350z, that car was making 220mph passes, that is until it got wrecked and went straight to hell.... my first love was a 1993 RX-7, then I wanted a tricked out Accord (wtf was i thinking...) but I guess my RX-7 love didnt reallly die but it definetly got side tracked when I saw the 2001 911 Turbo, whoo, i was in love. But now I just love my 240 and I will decide exactly what I want someday, but the 240 is a cool car that is a lot of fun to drive.

Yo xeseve, the F1 Mclaren did 0-60 in 3.0 sec not 5sec, even my friends supercharged cobra can do it under 5.0 sec.
I really wouldn't be into swapping a V12 ferrari engine into a vette as there are guys who got 1200hp to the wheels with a TT small block, it would suck to swap a ferrari engine and still loose, and lingfelters' new vette has 800Hp to the wheels.
But I like the idea of a ferrari V12 in a III Gen Rx7.
By the way, you got a Carlton GSI????????????????? My brother talked tons about it when he was in UK, he told me the thing ran with the M5 and was like 11yrs old, said it lost by a very tiny margin. Can you post some pics, I would really like to see this monstrous sedan he talks so highly about.

I was obsessed with the M3. My dad had one and I learned to drive stick on it. But obviously I can't afford one. My first car was a 240 and now I'm obsessed with them. I wrecked the last one I had and I'm about to get another one and fix it up. Hopefully I can keep this one in one piece.

I always liked the 300zx twin turbo
my friend picked one that needed work, he rebuilt the motor, started driving it... and he's pretty disappointed. its on the selling block. its cool but i dont think of it as a dream car unless it has 400+whp..

im a big fan of s13's and r32's. so if i win the lotto... or 10 years down the road (whichever comes first :evillol: ), i'd probably pick up an r32 to go along with my s13. i've driven in lots of cars but the only ones that are really addicting to me are early 90's 240's and gtr's (of which i haven't driven in, but dream much about from watching videos of them). probably because the aftermarket support for both of them is really amazing.

actually I love z32 300zx's. I have driven a few, I even drove a NonTurbo automatic the other day at work and it was still halfway decent. I've driven one with aftermarket springs and shocks and it can handle just about anything you can throw at it on the street. Id say they handle about like a 240sx actually, maybe a little better. The 240sx is lighter and feels chinsier when dirving it. The 300z is heavier although you don't really feel it, the car just has a more solid handling feel to it, I've never flogged both at high speeds(100+) but I bet the 300 comes out on top.

I remeber when the car first came out in 1990, I didn't really even know much about it mechanically and what it could do, I just always liked the looks of the car, especially with the white pearl paint. The Fenders and body lines from the side are a fuckin classic that can never be topped IMHO.

I think my first real dream car was the Mclaren F1 GTR...and many other exotics, but that was the only one I ever really fell in love with. Once I realized the rarity and the price of a used one (2.2 million or more in most cases) I decided that it wasn't feasible...I thought they would go down in price so maybe some day I might have a few hundred thousand and it would drop into my price range...sadly the price has over doubled and it's only a few years since production ended.

Anyhow after that I fell in love with the s13 and the FD RX7, along with the supra and some other cars. I really loved the new style camaros when they came out too...and then finally at 17 or 18 I think I really looked into cars, prices and reality and decided that a 1996 240sx SE was the perfect car in the entire world. I still haven't purchased one and I may not (my friend has one now and he's modding it so I'm looking at other cars)...probably my most favorite car within reach is a gen2 mr2...I also love the NSX and am considering it possibly depending on whether money comes in like I expect it might in the coming months.

My first ever love (car wise) was my dads 86 mustang gt, because hey, it was my dads, and thats the car i learned everything about cars with. Then after i played Need for Speed 2 it was the McLaren F1. Same as everyone here, i realized that $2mil was just a LITTLE above my price range. Later on when Gran Turismo 2 came out (5 yrs ago), i "bought" a used R33 Skyline (in the game), not at all knowing what is was, just because it looked cool. After that i absolutely fell in love with the R33, and it still to this day, it is my ultimate dream car. When i found out it was only in japan and couldnt get it here, i practicly cried, lol. Just looking at pics and info of it online everday for 5 years, i learned a tiny jap :), all about imports and the love i have for them. A while back i saw a red 240 (s13) drive by my house, and almost crapped myself. I had no idea what it was at the time, but knew that would be my car. Now i have a 93 and wouldnt trade it for the world. LOL sorry if this is a story of my life, but i love all that is cars!

i think my first love for a car was a 64 chevy impala ss. i remember in my earlier years when i first got infatuated with cars i used to read the lowrider mags and i got hooked onto the 64s with the daytons and the switches. i still wouldnt mind havin one of those but for about the past like 4 or 5 years i been into 240s. i mean it would be fun to be ridin in a low low doin the three wheel motion or hoppin up and down on the strip but nothin beats goin sideways into a corner.

my favorite car was always the rx-7 i really like the way they look but then i started to like the 240sx but only the s14 at the beggining but now the s13 hatch looks good with the front light conversion and a nice wide bodykit on it
