Automatic Overdrive

I have got a general question about automatics.

Many of us motorheads have big powerful motors :smile: , with only 3 (sometimes 2):banghead: gears to drive our vehicles. Automatic Overdrives need some kind of computer control to lock the slippage of the torque converter when in OD gear.
Can one simply bolt up an overdrive into a muscle car? :confused:
Can someone explain how this works and if there is a way to stuff an overdrive automatic into a non computer controlled muscle car.
I have seen kits to wire up things like the 2004r and 700r4 GM automatics, but I do not fully understand how they work.

Some overdrives are electronically controlled, some are not.

Motorhead is a wicked band. I saw them live when I was 15 years old, it was awesome...

umm, yes you can simply bolt it up. but thats the only simple part. providing your using a chevy tranny with a chevy engin, or a BOP engine with a BOP tranny, unless its a dual bolt battern 2004R. you need to move the crossmember usualy, its differnt depending on what tranny it is. there are kits you can buy to wire up the torque converter lockup, they are farily easy. and there are kits for thigns like the TV system and stuff. if you really wnat to lear now things work like you asked, go to bowtieoverdrives.com its chevy stuff but it explanes all the TV system and lockup stuff and everyting, just look around and find where it explanes the difeferent parts.
