tranny noise

I have a 1985 Cherokee that has a "clacking" noise coming from the tranny (AX5). I replaced the clutch kit thinking it was the guide bushing and or the throw out bearing. The noise continues. After I pulled the tranny out again I hooked up my drill to a hose slipped over the end of the input shaft and the noise seems to be coming from the front bearing. There seems to be quite a bit of wobble in the shaft as well. Any help would be appreciated. Are there any good books on a step- by step rebuild? Haynes is totally inadequate. Thanks.
