Dual Exhaust?

I was wondering if anyone had some insight to applying a dual exhaust system to a 2000 Civic SI. You see, I have a full Black Widow kit I'll be putting on my ride in about two months...the rear bumper has two cutouts for two exhaust pipes. Now, I've heard I won't get better performance for having duals, actually it will weigh it down some, but anyone here done this before?
I had a 99 Civic EX with a Greddy Evo, and I loved that exhaust, but if I use custom piping for duals, I have no idea what type of mufflers to get.
Any help?
Thanks

A dual exhaust setup will severly hurt performance on your car. Just leave it as a single setup. Or throw on a fake muffler on one side just for show, but I think that looks silly, so I would just leave the other cutout alone. Look here for more info : http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t13199.html

That would look nice, but the weight is the least of your worries. Dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder engine not a good idea. You will lose power.

Yep. I meant power in the all inclusive sense (HP & torque).:D

just make sure you design it correctly and it will function as any other exhaust would....I think it looks silly but it will work if done correctly

Thanks for all the feedback. Much appreciated. I was going for a certain look, as you can see in this example: Yellow Civic (http://www.grounddesigns2000.com/bw-menu/bw-civic96-002dr/index.shtml)
But if there's such a degragation in performance, perhaps it's not worth it.
Thanks again!

Thanks again! Like someone said, just put a muffler on the other side ~ and not hook it up to anything. Would give you the look of a dual system without the negative power loss...

i see this stratus all the time and he has dual exhaust and it doesn't look right, dual exhaust on a 4 banger doesn't make sense to me

I don't think it looks bad but everyone here speaks the truth. You'll spend a bunch of extra money buying a dual exhaust system, you'll add unneccessary weight, and you will lost back pressure which is needed on smaller engines

If it's a V6 Stratus, I don't find it a problem at all :)
You could always use the "fake" dual exhaust design on Cavalier Z24's and Sunfire GT's

don't need backpressure....like I said before, it will function the same if it is designed correctly

i have a black widow kit on my hatch and i was going to run dual i will tell you right now that first off it doies look hot and custom and also you will not get life threatening loss of power at ALL!!! you will lose mild horse almost that of not noticing it at all. i on the other hand shaved the other exhaust hole for a more unique look and it does look hot that way so if you want to do single still just shave the other side

You could always put a tow hook in that extra spot.

i'm j/j. For show purposes I guess it looks cool.. But you know me. I only like dual exhaust on the cars with two headers. :(

its a single pipe like a regular exhaust going into a mufffler at the rear...nothing different about that, but, there are 2 holes in the back of this muffler, one is the inlet, and the other is an outlet that a pipe goes from there to the other muffler for a less resistant exhaust
