New project started...

Well... New project started.
This time, from the ground UP.
This one is a lot like my first Zed rebuild. But this one is much more time consuming, and much more expensive.
1990 Non-Turbo with a blown engine.
It is going in the shop here soon... Within the next week. For a new engine, new interior, EFI Wiring Harness, full-over paint job, darkest legal tint (Four-Point). The works.
It will be receiving my normal mods.
-Injen intake system
-Twin Turbo Injectors
-Twin Turbo MAF
-AMZ Headers
-Gutted-Catalytic Converters
-NGK Triple-Prong Platinum Spark Plugs
-Silicon Hoses
-Uerethane front lip
-Fairlady Tails
And we cant forget my signature Powder Coated Black stock wheels. With my Logo embedded on one of the five spokes.
Over all it should be a lot like my first project... With-out the insane engine build.
So pictures will be coming, and updates will be as well.
Cant wait to get this shit going.

Tube frame! Tube frame!
I've always wanted to strip a car all the way down to the frame, replace it with tube frame, and build it back up with super lightweight materials (fibreglass/carbon-fibre body panels etc.) I've just never had the time/money/patience
Coupled with a full engine rebuild, that would be the ultimate project car.

That would also be about 100 grand. Or if you are doing all that you might as well fab the whole car and hang some body panels on it.

Pfft, fibreglass is cheap enough. If you did the project yourself, I'm thinking maybe $20k... If you got someone else to do it, maybe $30k
I'm always a sucker for estimating prices of things though, so chances are you're right and I'd just end up with a 10% finished project and a really light back pocket.

No its just going to be another road Zed.
Next summer im building the ULTIMATE ZedX.
Slicktop body, Tubbed Chassis, VG30DETT powertrain, tubed wheel wells.
The goal will be to make the car look as stock as possible...
It will be tickled to about 600BHP. Around 540WHP
I will make as many body panels out of Carbon Fiber Composite as possible. The rest I will "Swiss Cheese" the hell out of. (A simple process of drilling large holes in Non-Weight bearing sections)
The wheels wells will be tubed, to accomidate Drag Radials, or Auto-Cross.
... All on a "STOCK" looking body. Wow, that would blow some minds.

Speaking of tube frames... just visited ESCORT and saw there drag Z32 (probably gonna get my Z tuned by them instead of SIGNAL since they specialize in Z's). That car is AWESOME!!!! Wish I would have brought my camera! Maybe it will be there next time I go and I will post a nice pic of me in front of it!!!!
Good luck with the new Zed, Wes! Can't wait to see that tubed frame! Sponsor me, you rich bastard!!! LoL

i wish i had the money for a project. i kind of have a project, but it is going very very slowly due to my lack of funds. yes, making a z lighter is the ultimate goal of us z enthusiasts, too bad there is no easy way to do it.
