Ls1

GM made an all aluminum 427 in the early 70's. I believe the LS1 is superior Quality. Why didn't GM stay with all aluminum from the early 70's on to now instead of using the L98,LT1 etc.? Maybe a cost factor?

GM made the all aluminum 427 (ZL1) in 1969. Cost was VERY high, so Very few cars actually recieved it (69 of them made it into camaros, I think a couple corvettes got some as well).

and wasnt there something about the aluminum forging process being less efficient back then also?
