Happened to see this and until today I've never
even heard of a rumor of this....

Check out http://www.infiniti.com and click on
future models. They now have a "G35 Sport Coupe"
listed!!! Coming Fall 2002??!?!?

It looks much better (sketches) than the 4 door.
The best part is this....

"To the thrills and inspiration of the G35, add a
wider, more assertive stance. A more powerful
engine. Sleek styling and dynamic peformance...."

A more powerful engine? Woohoo!!! bring it on!

Btw... the sketch makes it look like a Z car.

This car looks exactly like the new Z, even the colour.
Go to http://www.nissanz.com/newz/newzpics.htm to see why!
It looks a remarkable amount like the 2002 nissan Z.

If you want more info on the Z go to www.nissan.co.jp/MS/TOKYO2001/EN/Z/index.html

There you have it gents. The new US spec Skyline GTR. Pure assumption at this time. Anyhow...

I will take a stab at this.

Because Nissan is consolidating to shared platform manufacturing, the new Altima, 350ZX, G35, and G35 Coupe will all have similiar body lines as well as similiar to identical suspension setups. The chassis' are all based on the newest Skyline frame and suspension. They are either stretched, chopped, or widened. But they all share the same basic design.

That is my not so engineering explanation of the similiartities you are seeing.

Also, they will all share the same 3.5, but each will be performance tweaked differently based on what Nissan will believe the consumer wants. Less restrictive intake/exhaust, more restrictive intake/exhaust, performance suspension, luxury suspension, wheel/tire size, etc.

A lot of people don't like when companies do this sort of thing. But I think it's great!

I think the coupe looks a lot better then the 4 door G35. Looks a little like a MB CLK hard top (kind of). I wouldnt mind haveing one from what I have seen so far but thats just been some drawings.

I don't know. I still like the touring car look and the G35 will be a great car to start with! Granted the GT-R will probalby kick it's ass.
