My v6 and AT are about to leave me for GM heaven. I have a 95 Trans Am donor car.
Because it's a 5.7 I'm planning to swap over all the suspension and brake parts, the rear end, drive shaft, interior, cooling system, exhaust etc. Essentially I'll be doing a full restoration/conversion.
I think I can handle each part individually with a little help, but the problem is... I don't know where to start... what order should i replace stuff?
The Haynes manual is all about "lower this to get to that" and "remove A to get to B".
Is there any sequency of installation that would reduce time spent putting stuff on, then taking it back off to put something else on?
Thanks,

Honestlly I'd keep the T/A since they wont be making them anymore, which means that you may be sitting on a gold mine.

The trans am is totally wrecked, which is why it's a donor.

I would start by removing your engine and cooling system and getting the electronics figured out. Thats probably the biggest part. The suspension and driveshaft and rearend can be taken care of easily later.

well to put the engine and trans in, you will need the front support crossmember and the tranny support crossmember. start there and just keep plugging and playing. also, i would see if you can do the swap with the harness still mostly hooked up, or atleast labled some how. might be easier to hook everything up when youre done...

pull the whole K member down with the engine and trans still on it. swap all the electronics and cooling system while you have this stuff out. put the K member with the v8 and tranny up in the car, that should be the easy way.

thats a good way to do it...

Do you mean drop the engine and trans out the bottom? How do you get the body high enough to do that?
