A friend of mine was thinking of buying a 99 Grand am with 80K miles on it for 4800, i dont know much about cars other than the basics but i figured someone here would know if its a good buy or not. i guess its in pretty good condition but he also needs to know what to look for when hes test driving it and checking it out, if someone could help me with these questions i would be very gratefull.

Go to www.kbb.com and select used cars and then go to Private party. Enter the car specs like mileage, engine size, accessories (ac, power windows, power door lock, sun roof, alloy wheels, etc), condition of the car (good, fair, excellent).

Go to www.carfax.com and enter the VIN #. Even though it will not display the actual history of the vehicle, it will at least give you how many history this vehicle has and from that point on, you can negotiate.

Most sellers would raise up the price when selling cars to compensate from buyers who would want to negotiate.
