Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have a question and wonder if someone may know the answer. I have a 2002 Grand Caravan, with just over 40k miles. Anyhow, the air conditioner compressor went out about a month ago, and if that isn't bad enough, it continues to grind, make noises, and smell of electrical burning. I can't afford to replace the item yet, but wonder if there is a fuse that I may be able to remove to cancel any power to that part. The fuse list I have is very vague, and I can't seem to find a detailed one. If you know the answer, could you please reply? Thanks...

If it is noisy with the a/c off the clutch is probably bad. With the car off try to turn the inside of the a/c pulley. If you can turn it you may just have to replace the clutch

I had the exact same thing with my Caravan about two weeks ago. Your description of the problem fit mine exactly. It turned out to be the bearings in the compressor went out. The good news is that Dodge has extended the warranty coverage on this item as it is a known problem. There is a 7yr - 70,000 mile warranty on the AC. You should bring it to the nearest Dodge dealer service center. The warranty covered all parts and labor. Good luck.

My A/C compressor just went out also. I was told it was NOT covered by the 7/70 warranty. Only internal engine components. Anyone have any info to the contrarry?
