hey guys hoping someone could help. I left the lights on on my 96GT by accident, and head to have someone jump start the car.
I couldnt 4 digit code for the radio, and after trying a few times, it shut off and can not try again. I found the code, but dont know how to reset the radio now, and I dont have a manual. Any ideas?????
Thanks

Turn on your car, Open the door and walk away, come back in an hour or so and it'll be reset and you get more chances.

actually it wont automatically reset there is a 4 digit code, if you dont have it you will have to get the serial number and run it to get the code.

You're one lucky guy ravman27. Hehe A couple people here have had problems getting there code due to the ridiculous price dealerships want for it. :)

Turn your key into the ACC (accessory) position without starting the engine. Make sure to turn your radio on, if it's in complete anti-theft lockdown mode then it will say 'off'. Let it sit for at least 1 hour with the stereo on and the key in ACC mode, it will automatically reset the stereo. Once reset, you have 3 chances to enter the code correctly or it will go into lockdown mode again and you will have to start all over. Enter the code and voila!! Let there be muzik....

Hey Everyone... I am new here to the Automotive Forum, but Wanted to Post a reply based on the 97 Galant Radio Code Problem. I searched on Yahoo for a resolution to my problem about the Radio Code, and it directed me to this Forum. I had the Same Problem today with my 97 3000 GT, and decided to try it, and it Worked, just what rainfever said.
So I guess, if you have a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant or a 3000 GT with a Stock Radio, this Trick works great. I forgot my Radio Code, but found the Card with the Code later on after I tried to input the code and failed. So, what I did was This:
1. Put the Key in the Ignition and put it to the "On" Position
2. Turned the Radio On, and the "Off" Prompt was Showing on the Display, then I walked away from the Car for an Hour.. Exactly 1 hour
3. I came back, and the Display was Powered on Still, but no Message. I then Powered the Radio Off, and then powered it Back on, and it Prompted me for the Code again
I input the Correct code, and it worked fine... no doubt if I had taken this to the Dealership, they would have said "it will take an hour" and charged me for the hour while I waited in the waiting room.
Thanks Again, and I hope that from reading these Posts that no one has to deal with going to the Dealership to have their Radio Reset

In the future you aren't suposed to bring back dead threads that you find using google or what not. I had some trouble with mine but found a person who could give me the code for free.
