ok, got the engine back together after replacing the head gaskets but now i seem to have a problem with my timing; i'll floor it but i wont get any speed, it'll chug along at about 5 mph...if i push the clutch in and rev then let it out i can pick up speed and it seems fine but as soon as i slow down i'm back to the car jerking and not going any fast than 5 mph. anybody got suggestions?

i'm no expert in the drivability department... but that sounds like a fuel problem to me. start looking for the obvious stuff....

i'd say you're fouling spark plugs. which means that your timing is either too far back or it's running far too rich. you could also be missing spark... i'd get a spark checker and go through every cylinder, see what's doing what. if you're missing spark i'd throw an MSD system in there... you can get a controller, coil, and wires for probably less than 300 dollars. 200 to upgrade the dist as well. you can even get a dist that already has a TFI module on it and plugs right into your stock ignition. if you do all that and no improvement... it's fuel.

1994 v6 im assuming? Still has a spout doesnt it? Pull the spout and turn the dist. Does the engine miss at idle or just under throttle?

Hey, i've done this before...granted that was back in my gm days (93 T/A)...but definitely check your plugs the back of your haynes manual will give you illustrations of bad plugs and what caused it (i'm assuming you have one as every good garage tech should) and gapping...if thats good, make sure the mating surfaces on your gaskets (heads and intake) are good...are you running hot? you might wanna give your cap and rotor a good cleaning while your under there too....happy hunting
