Hey guys.. how do I take the power steering belt off of a 69' camaro?
do I have to take the whole power steering thing off? I know with the alternator belt, you just loosen the 2 bolts and it slides down on the little rail, and you can take the belt off.
The power steering looks a little different.. so is it mainly the same way with the alternator ecept it doesn't have the rail?
The reason I ask is because we cant get the car to start, and were making sure nothing is frozen that is holding it back from starting.
Also.. do you guys think a stock starter from Advance auto parts will start up a 12.5:1 compression car? And.. where do you get gas for a car with that high of compression?? At all of the local gas stations the highest octane is 94... and personally, I don't think that is good enough.. but that is just my opinion.

well, as for gettin the belt off, im afraid im at a loss, dont know the older cars too well.
for gas, what kind of cam are you running??? because if you have long durration and decent overlap on the cam, you can run lower octain gas so long as you stay around lower engine speeds.

were really not sure, but we do know it has a ..490 lift
I think it is a high RPM cam though.

there should be a bolt you can loosen that will let your power steering pump tilt, kinda like the alternator.

dear person in stress:
Your power stearing box is connected to a mounting bracket which is connected to your engine block. Yes, it is like the alternator but the movement "slider bar" is hidden behind the pump. There will be at least three bolts u must loosen to take the belt off. One bolt will be at the back lower side of the pump, two in the front of the pump. Loosen these bolts off and you should be able to move the pump up and down just like the alternator.
