f150 coils?

I read on a web site that you could swap in a set of front coils from a f150 to give you a couple of inches of lift if so what year and does it matter if they came from a 2 wheel truck or not . I have a set from 98 f150 2 wheel drive truck , 1988 4.0 Cherokee
