Youve got the sohc right? Theyre pretty close. If you had the dohc, there would be no contest. What do you run in a quarter. My 96 Monte will run low to mid 16's.

i do have a sohc with intake and exhuast. its a 5spd too. i raced him once and blew his doors off. his older brother wants to give it a shot. with my mods i should run a mid to high 15

You probably will beat him, but not by much. Ive never ridden in an sohc stealth before, but my dohc would run mid to high 15's. You will probably run about a 16 flat if you get a good run. Ive seen sohc stealths run 17s though, but they probably didn't know how to drive. It shouldn't make a difference who is driving cuz the monte is an auto. Most stock 3.1 monte's will run about 16.4. My best time was a 16.2

Wow...I never woulda guessed...My 3.1 L would have a hard time keeping up with a Citation. if a stealth can't beat a 3.1 factory...dude....blow it up...I think i have the most emberrassing engine in any Monte...the 3.1 to me is...not to be trusted...very inconsistent off the line which makes me nervous in traffic when I need that initial burst of speed somedays it's not there. Definately an awesome highway car and built very solid but engine wise they should have always been the same engines as say a camaro or at least a 3.8 as a base...I wonder if they forget that some of us look at the name Monte Carlo from the race track! :screwy:

I think you might just have a bad motor man. Mine is always predictable. Never had any problems with it really and I've put 50K on it. I know they aren't the fastest car out there, but they arent the slowest either. I can eat hondas all day long and dust my friend in his v6 maxima.

[QUOTE=LOWMONTE817]I think you might just have a bad motor man.

I figured as much...I have that kind of luck with machines. I really wonder if I should just run it to the ground and then r/r with a 3.8l supercharged. i'm not the biggest fan of the newer body styles so I think I will stay with this model but why bother repairing what could be a lemon of an engine. You say you can eat Hondas? That floors me considering how light those cars are. Another one them was wrapped around a pole in Vancouver again....Montes don't wrap around poles...they go through em!! That's why I will stick with American cars as they're built for those unpredictable catasrophes. By the way, have you done any enhancements to your engine?
