98 escort Battery Question

I had my 98 escort idling with the key turned in the "accessory" position (the one where you can still run the radio and A/C) for about 2 hours. Afterwards I tried to start the engine but it would not start. I tried two or three times and it failed to start. So I called a friend and he came to give me a jump. It worked and the car started up fine and has been fine ever since without any other starting problems. This was 5 days ago since it happened (7-10-04). I just wanted to know if there was any real problem with the car or battery? Or could I have just waited for the battery to "regroup" and then try to start it? Should I have done something differently then getting someone to jump the battery?

no i think you just killed the battery, the recharge or jump is all you probably needed. However if you have further starting problems you might want to get that battery recharged or go for a new one.

to recharge, start the car and let it run... the battery doesn't run the car after its started so all the extra juice that the alternator pumps out and isn't used goes to the battery to recharge....
I agree. +1
