I say go to the performance site above and tune the sucker up....first suggestion to make it faster though, is intake and exhaust. That always helps.

The car isn't the greatest base for a fast car, then again neither is mine, but with time and money and effort you can do about anything you want.

Take your time and enjoy.

BLU CIVIC

intake and exhaust won't make it farst....just inprove throttle response and help the engine breathe better...the only noticable gains u'll get will be in ur imagination...

but i would wait on exhaust and intake until u make a plan on what u want to do to ur car

thanx 4 your help, its a 99, its an automatic but its prety fast it has one switch 2 make it switch gears not so early and another switch 2 make it excelerate faster and go 2 a higher gear (like it normaly has 4 gears but when u hit the switch it goes 2 a 5th gear) im not sure if the number of gears is right. i only raced twice b4 and beat a suped up honda civic and eagle talon. im gona get a air intake and a strut bar (it makez it excell like 1sec. faster, cuz its front weel drive)

That site is wrong. a 1998 Taurus SE doesn't run a 16.8. Sorry, I had to try my car and I know that it should be a mid to high 17; if not more.

well sorry hate to break it to you, but that site is pretty damn accurate

somewhat. it has errors

there is no website on the internet that has complete accuracy of 1320 times

for instance they have the times of the Z06 at 12.8
if your average time with the Z06 is 12.8 then you suck!

Umm... maybe you should find out what kind of stopping power you have before you go and try to make it faster.

Tower strut bar will do absolutely nothing for your car in a straight race or acceleration. A tower strut bar is for turns. It braces the two strut towers and connects them. When you go into a turn, your car's center of gravity shifts and the tendency is for one wheel to be pushed down to the pavement while the other has less weight on it and it raises a bit. The tower strut bar lessens this effect by adding more stabilization to your car's frame and chassis. It pushes the other wheel back down on the pavement, keeping them even, and reducing weight transfer and bodyroll. It will improve your turning, aka cornering, but do absolutely nothing for straight races or acceleration...FWD, RWD, or AWD

Basic bolt on modifications such as intake, header, and exhaust will help mildly, but realistically not make you significantly faster. If you are looking for a drastic improvement, forced induction (aka turbo or supercharger, or nitrous) is the only way unless you put another motor in your elantra. I don't know any performance websites with much for elentras...perhaps ask in the hyundai elentra part of this forum, as they might know of websites specific to your car. A turbo kit would be might what I would recommend...but do some research first. Turbos require some knowledge/tuning to get the most out of them as far as power and reliability are concerned. Good luck, and if you have any more questions, post em.

oh sorry dude I thought you where being sarcastic...

the car is not bad at all for hyundai's standards..There would definetly be some shops that would do a turbo conversion, I think Hyundai use's a lot of mitsuishi based engines...

koreanspeed the best thing in your position is do some research on the car stock and then do some deep performance research and try to talk to some people that know about your car.........with the knowledge and the right direction you could make your car quick.......but try regular bolt ons like intake, hedders, exhaust, spark plug wires, bigger exhaust piping, ect.....and since your car is an (auto) try looking in to nitrous...personally im not a fan of nitrous but in your situation you should do fine......

07-19-2004, 02:22 PM
