what does a compacitor do and how exactly do you hook one up ??

it's kinda like a smaller, faster car battery that basically does the job of an extra battery for your amps w/out the space issues of an extra battery.
They steadily charge power inside of them until the amp needs it, then it rapidly discharges from the cap w/out disrupting the car's charging system.
hooking them up is pretty straight forward: power is connected in series w/the amp and the cap in the middle. ground is connected to the car body. and remember that you have to use a resistor to put in line w/the battery line so that you can charge it slowly before you try to connect it to prevent arcing and possible shock
