I'm going to the dragstrip friday to run my car. Finally! I swear if it rains again...I've been trying to go forever now and either it rains or nobody's available to go (as i'm not 18 yet). Soooooo........i'll post this here and not the drag racing forum because a) its a mustang and b)there's a total population of about 2.3 people in that forum.
On with it........1) Does POWERSHIFTING help your e.t. times because it sure as hell doesnt help my tranny. I want to know because i'm good at doing it's just if it doesnt help by at least .1 tenth i'm not doing it.
2)TRACTION.....i'm decent at a launch on the street but is it any diffrent on the track? Should i just do like i do on the street......on the track........or no?
3)Any quick little PERFORMANCE TRICKS to do without money. I'm not taking out the spare the first (and last) time i did that i got a flat. I've already bumped timing to 19 degree's. No, it doesnt knock. So i kinda out of idea's.
4)Oh shit, that's it. Ok nevermind about number 4. Thanks in advance and hurry i've only got 24 hours, thanks.
P.S.-oh yeah fuck, my cars stock what SHOULD i run? Thanks again.

Power shifting is supposed to help your ET's a little bit. By how much, I have no clue, I'm horriable at it.
Air down your tires a little bit, something like 17-22 lbs. If you have street tires, stay out of the water box and just spin the tires enough to clean them off. Heating regular radials will make the lose traction easier when the rubber starts to melt. If y ou have D/R's or slicks then heat them up.
Your timing is set to 19* BTDC with the spout removed? Even if your not pinging or knocking, I would bring it down to at most 16* and maybe even 15*.
As you said removing and weight will help. Spare tire and jack, passengers seat LOL. Some people also go as far as removing the passengers side marker light to allow more airflow into the intake path.
Between runs keep the hood open to vent heat out, ice the intake is also good at bringing engine temp down, and keep the car off as long as possiable before the next run. I've even seen people have their car pushed down the staging lanes, till they get to the front.
Last bit of advice, when your sitting looking at the tree waiting to launch, as soon as you see the 3rd yellow light, GO! You will not red light, so don't worry about it, it takes your brain that long to react, that if you wait for green your R/T will be shit.

Don't power-shift if you want to keep your stock tranny.
