Intially the radio cut off on highway then returned 35 min later. Then the radio began to start off when car first started and pop on after a couple miles. Now it doesn't play at all. The fuses are all new and good but no sound or display of even the time. Before no sound ata all occasionally it would lock up and pop on to a diffrent station. The owner manual rfers to an audio reference booklet, but my car did not come with this information booklet. PLEASE HELP!!

I have the same problem in a 2000 taurus - I had the radio and the amp checked both good- I found out this is not that uncommon there is something wrong in the factory wiring - Now does anyone know how to fix it ?

Hey guy's,
I had the same type of problems with my 97. Check out the link to a thread here. I can show another link with people who had the same type of problems, got to find it though.

That's the way my problem started, just the radio. Did you say the display on the radio was giving a problem too? My display was normal.
You might at least want to do the test I noted. Start the car and unplug the TRS and see if your problem stays or goes. Nothing to loose.
I must say, I think its rediculous that ford has all these non related systems tied to a transmission switch, but its true and you should just rule it out if nothing else.
If I find anything else, I'll be sure to post. Let me know what happens.
Good luck.

Yea I'm gonna pull it next time I get my hands on the car- The radio/clock display went / followed by the radio itself- Now the only thing that comes on now is the time 10:16 - its always 10:16 - When ever it comes on.... Frickn goofy ford.
Oh just for the record the lady who owns this - took it in 2 months after waranty expired - they woulndn't even TOUCH IT- 25,000 mi on car- They wanted 75$ to just pull the radio out !! So she could send it in somewhere.
Jackasses- Like it takes more than 10 second to do...
