I have 90K on my 3.3 grand Caravan and I think it's time to change out the fuel pump before I head out on vacation. Does the changeout require dropping the tank? Can I cut a hole somewhere in the floor board? Also any recommendation on a good manufactures fuel pump? I really don't want to spend 300.00 for a Mopar. But I don't want to put in a garbage one and have problems down the road either.

Why are you changing the fuel pump? Are there signs that it's going out? My '96 with the 3.3L is still running strong with 140,000 miles. I wouldn't worry about it if it's not causing a problem.

I just thought fuel pumps didn't last that long and 90K was about at it's life limit. I was afraid it would go out on my trip. The car runs great. Burns no oil nor does it smoke. My other fear is I heard they have 100K transmissions in them. I had a 92 Caravan and the motor blew at 93K and the trans was replaced at 105K. That was all replaced by the previos owner. I ran the car until 170K. I just don't think they are very reliable.

my mecanic took of the hose to check the fuel filter not the pump. if is dirty or not b4 he decides to change it and mine has 197k on it so he saw the dirt comming out the fuel filter.
