hey guys, i am planning to get a prelude si. auto. caus emy parents do auto. my sister does auto. i have to get auto. maybe manual later on.

what i need to know is, u guys know where the dash is, u know how its striaght. what are those things at the ends. they r rectangle. r they speakers.

also i currently have a 5th gen civic vti (ex) and i love the steering. its easy to turn. is it like that in the prelude. and is there a major differnece in the feel of the prelude 4th gen and a 5th gen civic sedan.

y i am asking this, its cause i want to get a honda in auto with the most power in stock. the integra LS auto are 145 HP and these si preludes are 160. i dont really plan to do the motor except puttign air intake and maybe cat back exhaust. also this might sound dumb but i keep hearing about how nice the scream of a DOHC vtec sounds, how does the Si sound when flooring it. is it bette rthat a civic ex (D16y)

thanks

if what you're talking about on the dash is what i'm thinkin of, yes they are speakers. if you love the steering on the civic, then you'll really love the steering on the prelude. don't ask, just trust me. :D

the prelude si isn't vtec just so you know. but it sounds like a typical honda motor at WOT. you won't hear the vtec crossover obviously. try lookin for a 4th gen vtec if you're set on the 4th gen. you'll love it. i'd also recommend tryin out a 5th gen. i'm 5th gen biased though. love both gens but since i owned a 5th gen, gotta show love for 'em. :p

oh thank, about the steerign wheel. what i mean is, when u steer the car, its easy to move around. compared to my brothers 1993 celica, comparing to the civic, u have to really move the steering. nah man, i dont know if there in the USA have 4th gen vtec auto, but here in australia, the vtec auto 4th gen preludes are only manual. the SI is enough for me anyway. what i just wanna know, when u do get in the higher revs of the SI, how does it sound, for sure not as good as a vtec,.

also can u guys answer me my second post. about the needle and speedometer at night. i love the look of them. i wanna know if i get a 92 or 93, does it come with that type of effect on the speedo at night or is that available only 94+

on the 94-96 Prelude's they glow on in the day time night everytime u turn on ur car even the mileage r digital only on the Si's, Se and VTEC models tho...also since ur getting an Auto Si u won't feel the scream that bad if it was a Si stick shift cause u hear a mini mini - VTEC sound but on Auto u'll just hear a typical Honda Motor Scream...also Auto Lude's don't sufer power as most Auto Honda's cause of there Higher Torque...and they save as good of gas as any other Honda 23 to the gallon If i'm correct so u'll love your LUDE...but do check out 97-01 Prelude's they come Auto. VTEC...if a budget isn't a problem...

those rectangles are speaker covers (not trying to be smart), but some systems don't have speakers behind the covers. my 93si has speakers there, but the 92s i had did not have any speakers behind the covers.

i had a auto 92 si, and now have a 96 prelude vtec, the vtec is louder and faster and the manual is more fun. The speedometer in the 96 is also electroluminecent (sp?) so it looks alot brighter and crisper at nite. the 92-93's i think are just back lit.

thanks guys, yeah i am on a budget. but can some tell me about the handling. like when i was driving the civic, its easy to go around, easy to park and everything, turning the wheel is easy, not like my brother 93 celica. is the prelude similar to the civic in handling, and steering. ok, have u guys seen the Best Motoring Volume ? which has the Red Le Mans NSX, Magin of VTec, and then the battle of 10,000 rpm. there was that JUN Prelude. the speedo (instruments) are sick. can i get that from a 92-94 Prelude Si. thanks

you have to look for a 94-96 for the eletrolum. gauges. The earlier ones have plain back lit. Just get reverse indiglo gauges if you get a 92-93. They dont look to bad.

to answer your question, yes, the steering is very easy on the ludes, power steering is standard on the Si. You shouldn't have any problem at all. And you're also right, you can't get a 4th gen VTEC lude in automatic, only standard. If you ever can though, you gotta go manual with the ludes, they're so much fun to drive.

i also have a question about performance. with some cars such as a skyline, where as u just get an aftermerket ECU, then u get liek 30 horses extra. how about the prelude SI. is there any thing liek that

I personally would take a prelude si over any civic, not really a fan of the civics. As for your other question, there are aftermarket ECU's for the preludes, but you're not gonna be gaining 30hp from it. Skylines have a little more potential then the preludes. You will gain power though, depending on which one you get (maybe 10-15hp, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong on that)

Well depending on how many mods you have and N/A vs. Turbo makes the difference. A stock prelude, especially the Si, will probably give you close to nothing. The Skylines and such have HP rating limits in Japan. So all you have to do is chip them and it brings out their full stock potential. It's also better to have a tunable chip and have it tuned for your specific car, rather than a mass produced chip made just for your engine model. Someone correct me if anything is wrong here.
