depends on your budget, as always - but the first step is usually an intake system, then a complete exhaust system (header, cat-back piping, exhaust tip). After that you could start making your engine compartment pretty - clean it out (see other posts), then install new coloured hoses, wire coverings, etc. You could also at this point get new spark plugs, but theyre not going to help you until you're putting out more power than the stock plugs can handle - which, with just intake/exhaust, isnt the case. You can get a new ECU chip. After this point it starts getting expensive. You can upgrade your driveline - get new flywheel assembly, etc. Pop in new suspension bars. Upgrade your brakes. I havent read much in to the cylinders on a cav, but you can get new valve covers and springs, definitely. And if you're really rolling in the dough - swap out your 2.2 for a V6. And/or add a turbocharger and a nitrous system.

the 2.2L isnt worth it, ive seen guys put up 2,000 dollars into that engine and not see any improvements in 1/4 mile, i even saw one guy gain .5 seconds. The only thing you can do to that car to make it better is Turbo, supercharger, or Nitrous. Otherwise trust me when i say, ur gonna waste ur money.

i agree with foolsama your next step should definetly be a exhaust and intake.
