Haven't posted here in a while. Been going thru sort of a dry spell. Well anyways here we go.
Went to the 24hr Ralphs on Lake to buy shampoo and ended W bound on I210. Cruised doing 75 all the way to the 118 with no takers. Took the I5 South interchange and cruised Burbank with the same results. It was getting a little late so I decided to take the 134 back to Pasadena instead of the usual 110N.
I saw an older E-55 up ahead and gunned it a little to catch up and get his attention. He didn't want to play exited in Glendale. I slowed to 75 and had given up all hope when I catch blue tinted HIDs in the rear view. Ah yes, .... BMW! My little display for the E-55 had gotten this guy's attention and he was coming full throttle to teach me a lesson.
I waited till he reached my rear bumper and then mashed the throttle. The 4L60E came out of lock-up but did not downshift (I hate that damn tranny). In the time it took me to ease off then re-apply the gas he put 2-2.5 cars on me. The A4 finally down shifts and I slow his pull. By 95 I stop his pull. 100 I'm inching him. At 105 I start to slowly walk him. By 110 I start to pull pretty hard and pass him up at 115. I run it up to 135 and put about 3-4 cars on him. I could clearly see both of his headlights in the rear-view. We come up on a slight bend and I let the car coast to 125, he does the same as he didn't make up any ground. I re-applied the throttle coming out of the bend and ran it up to 145 picking up another 4-5 cars.
I slowed down to 75 and waited for him to give him the thumbs up. He shadowed my speed and stayed 7 or so cars back. Oh well, fun nonetheless.

your car did not shift? i thought all SS camaros were manuals. i was under the impression that the trans am was the only car with the automatic option.
good kill. i would be afraid to race you on the highway. i just had a similar encounter with a BMW myself. all in good, safe fun. :bigthumb:

If you pulled on it that hard, it probably wasnt a 540, I'd say 535. A 540 may not be an M5, but they pull damn hard. The new 545s are insane in six speed, and I am praying to the car gods till the new M5 comes out, High reving Seven Speed V10.

Thanks.
Like 90Stang said, you could get them with either. I got the A4 thinking it would see all of its racing in the 1/4. Given that I need DR's to hook up at the track, I look for hwy runs.

Yeah, I guess. I've never acutally raced anything in a 540i, but when I got to take a ride in one, it flew. Of course it was a six speed, and the guy never really gave anyone a chance to catch up to race. I'm just thinking it would win, but I don't know if it would pull that hard. Infact, I would expect the SS to win against a stock 540i.

Read a little closer the E-55 exited in Glendale. The BMW came up from behind after noticing that I was trying to get the E-55 to run.
CassiesMan, I'm pretty sure it was the V-8. It hung in for a while and I didn't start pulling hard till 100+. For comparisons sake, I put 2.5 on an E46 M3 from 85-135.

I'm currently putting down ~350rwhp. The car dynoed 338rwhp/336rwtq before the tunning and Throttle Body By-pass mods.
