Brake questions.

I just changed my 4 brake rotors and front brake pads for my 93 base model yesterday. The rotors are the slotted+drilled ones (but not Brembo, just lookalike). And got the cheapest brake pads for the front. And it's runs ok sometimes. But sometimes when I turn a little or brake, it make some really really annoying noise, sounds like when you scratch your knife and fork against a plate, or metal scratching concrete sound, or metal against metal. It's just a non-smooth sound, it doesn't sound like when your brake pads are worn out. So I think some metal parts are scratching the brake discs. I think the noise is from the front. I'm not sure what causes the sound, some I pretty sure something is scratching something. And the weird thing is, it makes that sound when i brake softly, or turn. Is it because I didn't tighten the lugnuts enough, or did I mess up the pads?

Hehe, good question. I'm not the only one that owns all the cars. My dad owns some of them, and they're not all in USA, some cars are in Hong Kong. Because my dad lives there. And I'm sharing this ID with my dad, so I just put all the cars. lol

2 things, you said you changed your rotors, which is good, otherwise I would have suspected them as the culprit. That sound can come from any vibration though. Your best bet is to go to Autozone or Pepboys and get anti-squeal brake lub. Spray it generously over the pistons, the back of the pads, any shims that you put in, the caliper guide bolts. Make sure you tighten everything up all the way, and also don't get any of that lubricant on your rotors, or you wont stop(ie...BAD). If you spray that all over everything that moves, except the front of the pads and the rotors, then that should help. Also make sure everything is tight, as that can also cause problems. But in reality, it is probably caused (in part) by the cheap pads you got. The front pads take more abuse than the back, due to weight transfer when braking. Cheaper pads, simply aren't made of quality material where braking ability and noise elimination are the main focuses. Next time I'd recommend not short-cutting on such an important part of your car.
