Hey, what's up. I usually read instead of post but anyways name is Andrew nice to meet you all. Well I've been searching for a 1991-1993 S13 fastback for a while now in the Bay Area of California and Southern California, but still no luck. The good ones I find with a decent mileage, condition, and price are either automatics or damn convertibles. A little frustrating but just tonight, an idea just shot across my mind. What if instead of looking for a 91-93 fastback, I went and got a 89-89 fastback? With the 89-90 fastback, I can use the leftover money and drop a ka24de into it which is the engine I want. The cost would come to about the same as investing my money into the 91-93. So what do you guys think? Should I get the 89-90 fastback which is easier to find in a good condition or should I be persistent and keep looking for a 91-93? Thanks and take it easy.

Your probably better off just waiting until you find a 91-93. Good things come with time. Just be patient. May I ask why you want a KA24DE?

Well Nissanfanatic, honestly, I'm planning to learn how to drift. Unlike the majority, I would like to do something that is seldomly done, which is to drift a stock KA then a turbo one down the road. I'm going to be entering college and despite of how my parents may be helping me with rent, I do not want to dig myself into a financial well. I don't want to spend a few grand to drop a SR and the following mods to it to maintain it when a few grand as a college student is hitting the lottery. Besides, I'm not into going against emissions, have to protect the environment yah know. = )I'm just going to drift with what I have. Thanks for your reply dude.

Well, the few grand you don't wanna spend on an SR will be spent on body repair and tires.

Possibly a few grand, but no where near as much as a SR swap. Nonetheless, thanks for your replies. I appreciate it.

ka drifting sucks. trust me, thats what i do. its hard to keep your revs up for a long time.

i used to wanna take that road and be the only ka drifter in d1, but theres a reason why it doesnt happen...and thats cause the ka is inferior when it comes to drifting.

im not saying its not possible to build up a hi-revving ka24, cause you can make any engine do anything...but most ka's cant and wont keep up with a nice high-revving sr20.

Funny, it is very hard to find cnovertible S13 or S14 in GA, but I don't like convertibles anyway, I am black, don't need a TAN. There is one by my hood for I think $1500, seems solid but never took a close look.

I dunno if you meant convertable S13 or coupe S14, but there's not convertible S14.

turbo one

Thats what I was hoping for. There are actually a few people who drift them. I've heard they get a lot better after the turbo so stick it out. Lightened flywheel and driveshaft should help out. Maybe an intake and exhaust too.

Give or take I'll just give it a try and move on up if the turbo ka does not suit me. Yah, I find that good condition 91-93 s13s are more frequent in middle west or far east. If I get really desperate, I can join fly to one of those locations and drive my sexy baby back. But, I think I'm good for just looking for another 6-7 months or so. And SHO, why don't you just wear sunscreen? ^_^ That'll help.

Bah, just do some head work on your KA and you'll be good to go. N/A powaa baby!

sounds like a cool idea man, drifting with a N/A KA, good luck... (w/ skill anything should be possible...)

Indeed. Didn't I see a couple posts saying that skill is more a factor than HP? :p

Very correct. Skill is far better than any big gulp of hp. Drifting evolves mainly around the driver's skill; how fast a driver is, not how fast his car is. With determination, anything is possible. Thanks for the comments guys. Appreciate it. Take it easy.

Oops sorry, no S14 conv, I keep confusing the 95-98 with the silvia, I forgot that the silvia was sold through 00.
Anyway, I've never used sunscreen, and besides, after being born in Kenya, you kinda get to a gentle understanding with the sun.
Anyway, i would wait for the S14.

It's not HP it's power band that is important.

after you build up that KA smoke some SR20's in the 1/4 to get some extra green. but that's just me

in california the the 240 converts are common I think its hard to find a low miles 93 and under 240sx thats why im just going to wait to get a hold of a 95 and "Pimp my ride" soon after :) Yea Baby!!
