Check out this forum: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=41988
Lonman, a notorious gumballer, was in a modified GT2 doing 218mph and was over taken by this Enzo.
I know that 227mph is faster than the reported Enzo top speed, but check out the picture of the Enzo's dash. It shows a reported max speed reached of 366km/h. Do the conversion, and it equals 227mph!!!
Lonman himself posted in the forum above, and he agrees that the Enzo really did go that fast.
The Enzo seemed to me to be the faster car. When we first saw it behind us, we assumed it was the yellow Gallardo (I did not know that there was a Yellow Enzo). We were doing 180mph and it still seemed to be closing up on us. We sped up and up and it still seemed to be catching. As it passed us we were doing 200mph+ (not sure exactly). We sat behing them at 350kph (their words) which is about right, because we had 218mph on the speedo.(for the record.....1.4 Bar and a longer 6th gear)
The beauty of it is, is the fact that the GT2 can sit at 180mph all day long, but the Enzo cannot. We arrived at the Casablanca lunch checkpoint in 1st place, 15 minutes before anyone else. Kimble was second. We over took him 100 miles outside Casablanca. It is fair to say that overtaking Kimble in not an easy thing to do....he is flat out everywhere he goes.
Hats off to Yellow Enzo, he was proper fast...........As long as the car let him.
"Porsche, there is no substitute"
Ps....If you're not a believer, you need to check out the empty, long, straight roads in Morrocco!!

That was an awesome interview. I wasn't aware the the porsche is a superior performer in the long run however. I wonder if that is true?

Porsche is good but as proven you cant match mods with pure performance.

Put 'em on the road track and watch the 911 GT2 or 3 run circles around the Enzo. I'm not surprised the Enzo is faster in a straight line, it costs 500+k more than the 911 GT2. Ferrari doesn't put enough time into real performance IMO, they are more concerned with keeping Ferrari the most beautiful car on the road (With the exception of the Enzo, IMO).

Not even close a GT3 running circles around the Enzo, I think not. The GT3 is almost identical in performance with the 360 Chalenge Stradale and I highly doubt that the CS is faster than the enzo.
BTW if you would like to check my data regarding the CS being equal to the GT3 watch their comparo in Top Gear and their subsequent test by the Stig.

Well then you would know what would happen if you ran them on a wet course if you watch the Top Gear stuff. The Stig ran a wet-course best with the gt3, faster than an evo VIII in the dry (1:27.2 seconds), only 2 seconds behind a Noble V12 in the dry. Important to note I was talking about course performance, not inline performance. I have no delusions that a 200,000 dollar gt3 could beat a 600k+ enzo in a straight line. It's not a fair comparison. I was only giving a little backup to the porsche as it's not a weake lil' car :)

I was not talking about straight line performance. I was talking about their test track. Oh i did make a mistake the 360CS is equal in performance with the GT3 RS so it will outperform the regular Gt3 quite easily.
the course times for the GT3 Rs and the 360Cs were 1:22.3 both insanelly fast cars. I do expect the Enzo to beat both though; easily I might add. The question is: can the Enzo beat Carrera GT's time of 1:19
Of course this doesn't mean the porsche is slow, i have tremendous respect for the GT3.
PS two small corections the Noble's name is M12 not V12 since it has only a v6, and the Gt3 is actually 100K

Thanks for the correction on the m12, my Kazaa DL had the name listed wrong. Last I heard the 911 turbo was about 120, and the GT2 was 190. Sorry, I had mistaken the gt3's stats for the gt2's. I am anxious to see what the Enzo does on the Top Gear course though, any idea when they get to drive one?
I guess my main frustration with the Enzo is that it costs $650,000 and is only putting up the numbers that it is. It's the same thing you get with all Ferrari's. Class, but you pay for it. Cars that amaze me would be like the 2002 Lingenfelter C5 427 TT Corvette (sited numerous times on these forums of course), as it outperformed Autothority's 996 turbo in straight line, and was just a second behind on the course time. $165,000 for a car that does the quarter in 8.9 and the 0-60 in 1.98 seconds. It's got it all: speed, handling, looks stock aside from the carbon fiber hood, and it's completely street legal (Meeting california emissions standards). I was expecting so much more when the rumors of the F60 were flying around (Not to mention body style, I think the 360 Modena has it beat by miles in that department, as does it's precessors the F40 and F50).

Well with Ferrari you'll never get a performance bargain. But performace wise the Enzo despite its controversial looks it should be quite insane. The Enzo derivate: Maserati MC12 has the potential to dominate Lemans easily unless FIA regulation kill it.
About the Enzo being on Top Gear, I want to see that so badly. i hope they will review it soon.

Aye, this is why I am unable to label Ferrari as my favorite sports car company. Although I do wonder what a Porsche would look like with 650grand into it O_O

I know the Enzo is reminiscent of a sharper-looking, wingless F-50, but I think the MC12 would look better as the Enzo. Anybody agree with me? :grinno:

I gotta say, it wouldn't take much to look better than the Enzo. I think the F40 was the sharpest looking of the F-cars. All of the other Ferrari's have an absolutely gorgeous shape.

at first I thought that the Enzo was a mistake on massive proportions, but now, I love the front end, (F1) the rear takes a bit of getting used to and could be vastly improved if it had a wing somthing like the one from a F50 or F40, but all in all my favorite looking Ferrari is still the F355
