As usual with most of us I dont exactly have alot of $$ to spend, but i want to do something to my (for all intensive purposes) stock 94 civic. what i would like to know is would it be worth it to turbo my car as is, plus i/h/e etc, or would it be better to go out and get a b18c1 to drop in it and start from there? i know for performance the b18c is the way to go, but im talking for the same amount of $ which is the better way?

Depends on what motor you have in there now. If you have the vtec engine (Si or EX) then it'd be worth it and you could potentially make more hp that just a b18c swap. But if you have any other trim you'd be better off just saving for the gsr and working off there $ wise.

Swap! Keep the gsr motor stock to save up more money to modify it more. Patience is the key.

hmmm keep the d16z6, because the b18c1 has high stock compression and doesnt really work well with a turbo.
Actually, it depends. Are you going all-motor or forced induction?

i dunno exactly what i want to do, if i swap i highy doubt ill ever go forced induction, im kind of an all motor guy. But on the other hand if i keep my stock motor, id almost have to boost it to get anything much out of it. so if swap, its staying n/a

I would stick with the D16Z6 you can push out just as much HP for a lot less money jus get the block bulletproofed

Its more expensive. You need alot of work to get into 13s on a sohc.
With a gsr motor...all you need is to upgrade cams along with bolt ons, chipped ecu and good suspension along with a good clutch and tires.I would also throw in some CTR pistons. Get a v-tec controller for an easier tuning. That set up alone is a lil over 2 g's.You will hit mid to low 13s right there. Oh and gsr doesn't have that high of a compression so its safe to go turbo if you choose that route. Even if its a type r motor its ok to turbo but you have to get it tuned right away.

Or you can go LS VTEC. Much much cheaper though make sure whoever is doing it know wtf they are doing

ok thanks everyone. ive decided im going to save up a little more and get the b18c. mellowboy touched on this but as for what to buy to go along with this engine, is there anything else that is good to buy or anything that isnt worth getting? im kind of lost on some parts lol
