Where are you going to get a JZA70 in the US? I've seen maybe three 1jz swaped MA70's for sale so needless to say there rare. Ontop of that a modded Supra would not be a good choice of a first car.

I'd say start out with a NA car first. Turbo cars, especially used ones with 100k+ miles are more prone to mechanical failures.

I'd recommend these cars instead:
1. '85 Corolla GTS
2. '77 Celica GT <--- Best looking IMO
3. '85 Celica GTS
4. '85 Celica Supra <--- Best Potential
5. '90 Celica GTS (FWD though) <--- Modern Looking

i could name one guy right off the bat that is selling one. they arent hard to find at all. but of course they are hard to find if you are just looking on autotrader and ebay.

Yes, they are getting easier to find nowadays if you know where to look, there are three on supraforums right now, but your taking it out of context, there are how many thousands on MA70's for sale right now and only three or four 1jz swapped MKIII's. Ontop of that your getting off topic and missing the point that the kid is 16 and looking at an MKIII for a first car, getting a 1jz is not a smart move with no knowledge of the car and engine and even something as basic as where to get tune up parts.

i was only meaning to correct someone . not to give advice on what he should get. at 16 my advice would be to get an NA . a turbo car in the hands of a 16 year old isnt exactly a good idea. but thats just my feelings on the whole matter.

P.S. how much for the coke can and the fire blankets? :evillol:

personally i would go with the n/a supra as a first ccar and as ur driving skills progress then you can start adding little gooodies like a turbo motor swap and what not plus the insurance is less too

didn't the 3rd gen supra run on a CT26 turbo? how did you get that turbo to make sooo much power? its not exactly a large turbo.

projectsupramk3

That much? That's only 50hp or so more than stock, a unmodified ct26 can handle that no problem, upgraded ct-26's have dyno'd 400+hp. The ct-26 is a large turbocharger by Toyota standards, compared to all the rest.

Werd, CT-26s can push about 14-15psi well. After that it becomes very inefficient though.

You won't just find a 1JZ swapped in a mkIII, thats for damn sure, although it would be a nice change in reliability... but get real.

A turbo mk3 as your first car? Don't get it, unless you don't mind being out of a ride every so often untill you get all the bugs worked out.

I would'nt even get a NA, still too many things you will have to deal with at some point. FF cars are much easier to manage as a youth, if you have a job you can still go turbo. But i do see your point in wanting something packing more punch to start out with...by the time you do start your life off you will be able to put some sweet finishing touches on it.

hey nonolilpo...whatever get the turbo mk3 just make sure the car is in good conditions and even so if you get it make sure your first mods are reliability mods head gasket, radiator, oil coolers etc... me and my freind learned first hand, lol just do go out racing in the streets btw my friends mk3 project is finished well the ingine is not really planning on making it a show car car now has a hks gt2538 turbo, port and polish, valve work, motec ems, etc... havent got it on the dyno or to the track yet but will post stats my guess is 500rwhp 11.5xxx 1/4 mile times but im just guessin wel se what happens

I'm 18 and have a supra MkIII, If you want a motor and you can afford it then go get it no matter what ya age.

Take it easy though, you dont wanna go ruining a nice car. Or hurting yourself but thats secondary. :)

hey, 7M>V8, what bugs do you mean that need working out? I am thinking about getting one of these very same cars, but am trying to do some research. Are there problems that come chronically with these cars? Thanks in advance!
