insurance?

I live in mississauga canada(near toronto), and i am wondering what the insurance rate is for a 1985-87 buick regal 305 V8, monte carlo, or cutlass of the same specs. a mechanic told me it was quite pricey, is that true? really want one tho!

Yes being a fellow dude from Ontario (Markham) it is true the insurance rates on that car would be quite costly...The reason is the insurance in Ontario does something like if your car is over 15 years old it takes a new classic car ranking (or something like that) and the insurance rockets up...my friend has a 91 Civic and he has to sell it before it turns 15 just because of that...The fact that it's a V8 also scares the insurance company and jacks up your rates... If you can afford it then go for it...but if I would suggest my civic friend checked lowest insurance rates and the mid 90's A4's have decently cheap insurance.

sigh, im only 16 and with a G1, how am i gona rack up over 5000 for insurance.......being from a family that isnt rich. stoopid 15 yr antique status, no wonder the mechanic i work for told me not to buy the 85 V6 camaro...... or even the 89 240sx.....
