gutted precats

I know some get 02 sensors that give off a check engine light if you gut your precats on a vr4. I assume 91-93 have no problems, and 94-95 could be either, and 96+ will definantly set off the check engine light if I gut them...am I right? I have a 96, and I'm FINALLY ordering my ATR downpipe Friday, so I figure when I have the car up and am putting it on, I might as well gut the kitties anyway. So anyone from personal experience know whether the engine light will get triggered?

My Spyder has guttet precats (and a high flow main) and the check engine light doesn't come on. Its a 95.

96+ should throw a check engine light, but if you plug the 2 lower holes, and just zip tie the o2's somewhere out of the way it should be fine. I would leave them in there first and only try that if you do indeed get the CEL.
