well the tranny and torque converter are bolted up. now all i need to do is get that damn crossmember in. I tried jacking the back end of the tranny up but i didnt wanna go too high cause i didnt wanna mess up the engine mounts. it seems i have to go pretty high to get the crossmember under the tranny though? i can hear the engine creaking when i lift it too high. what should i do?

umm thats one thing i didnt think of. now that you mention it, i think that there might be a slight problem with that tranny hitting the floor. let me see if i can find the article in my book and see if i can find an article about swaping that tranny into a first gen camaro online for you.

ok well i foung the artical i was looking for in my book but it was from 1997 article in super chevy, and its not online. so im going to try to tell you the best i can what it says. they are swaping out a Th-350 to a 700r4 in a 68 camaro. the powerglide is the same dimentions as the 250 except for the size of the case, so it shouldnt really matter much. they said that there are a few areas that need to have added clearence created.

"one area is located on the drivers side floor. the corner where the floor comes down must have aditional clearance created for the repositioned crossmember. furthermore, the front of the crossmember may come in contact with the transmission oil pan. additional clearance can be bent or cut into the crosmember for this, as well."

the only other thing in the article that i saw that you might need to know is that it says to put the dipstick tube in before the tranny is totaly in ebcause it becomes almost imposible to get it in. but thats not so big. i hope this helps some. let me/us know how it goes and when its done and all.

ok so should i jack up the tranny so i can get the crossmember under the tranny???it seemed like there was too much stress on the engine..

are you sure it was stress on the engine and not something like it hitting the floor?

oh..by the way...its a custom crossmember my buddy made. and i noticed tonite that it is gonna hit the oil pan. im not moving the crossmember back..we made a steel plate and welded it back further and drilled new holes.

oh ok. if nothing else, unbolt the motor mounts just to make sure it doesnt brake something and then jack it up. you have a aftermarket shifter dont you? if so is the cable going through th floor and in the way or something? i would make damn sure your not hitting somewhere in the tunnel or something. you dont wnat ot brake something major or anything like that. and make sure you arnt hitting anything with the engine either.

welllll i got the dipstick in..haha..its not where its supposed to be cause its from the 88 iroc but it fits..hopefully. just hope it doesnt leak. i ground down the carb to fit the tv cable bracket. tomorrow i get to take my exhaust off so i can get that damn crossmember in. i think i might just run straight headders and say screw the mufflers haha.

lol cool. i cant stand to drive my car that way. too loud inside, but i am also missing like half my interior.

so do the pipes not go through the double hum on the crossmember? i know thats a farily commen problem with stuff like that, but you can always have an exhaust shop do it up so it all fits.
