o man.. im so happy.. i know i been bitching about what sub to buy and etc.. i finally got it.. i put it in a 1.2 cu.ft. box instead of the recommended 1 cu.ft. and it sounds great.. im only putting about 175rms into it right now because i dont have a sub amp yet.. but now i have a problem.. the amp im getting cost $185 (the mrd-m301) which will give it about 300rms if the amp gets a constant 13.8v.. now i seriously think that it sounds great right now.. the sub isn't even getting worked or anything.. should i buy another type R and buy the hifonics brutus bx500d which should give each sub about 250rms for about $170 OR should i just buy the alpine amp and put 300-350rms thru one sub? thx

your asking should i jump out of the pan into the fire. on one hand you got more surface area, but less power to each. on the other hand you got less surface area but more power to the one.
i had the same problem, should i go with one w7 and a 1000/1 (1000 watt monoblock), or should i go with 2 w7's and 2 cheaper dhd's amps (700 watts each bridged) for about the same price? in the end , Quality should be the tie breaker. for me it was between dhd or JL, so that was an easy choice. since the price is a non-factor think quality

well i think i am going to go with the brutus.. because i really want 1 more sub.. and reguardless the brutus is cheaper than the alpine.. and it can work at 1 ohm.. what i lose is.. no digital amp.. and i gotta meter my gains n stuff.. but thats ok.. my next system.. i'll probably use alot of alpine stuff.. everything except their subs maybe
o yea also.. how come on some places they put the bx500d as..
125 @ 4 ohm
250 @ 2 ohm
500 @ 1 ohm
but other places say
200 @ 4 ohm
350 @ 2 ohm
500 @ 1 ohm
thats weird.. i would want the one that makes 350rms at 1 ohm nonetheless.. anyways i think i can talk the people down to $160 for the bx500d.. and in my opinion.. i dont think i need a digital amp n stuff.. that cost $185 (for 180 i can get other amps that put out almost 2X the power)

well im running my current type R with only 175rms and it sounds so great.. and i can't find any affordable class D that makes 600rms @ 1 or 4 ohm.. if i could then i would probably get something else.. also how are hifonics amps people? anyone have experience? some poeple say they are good.. some people say they are not.. i have no idea.. i've never used them before

the reason you might see two different ratings is because they might be the same amps, but different versions. It's kind of like the hifonics z600 and the z600el. They are both 600 watts at 1 ohm, but the el version has more features. they might even be something you're interested in...

hey navy do you think hifonics makes reliable amps? like.. they wont blow or get super hot at 1 ohm.. and they last long hopefully.. i've heard good and bad stories so i really duno.. tomoro i will go buy an amp.. either the hifonics bx500d or the alpine mrd-m301.. i need help heh

I went on about the hifonics to answer your previous question. as far as where I think they stand, I wouldn't go for the low end of a mid-level company. but if it's a money issue, and you still want power, go with JBL. and if cash is a non-factor go with JL
